The five limbs of the Hindu lunisolar calendar, computed from live planetary positions. Tithi — lunar day (1–30). Each has a quality; Ekadashi (11th) and Purnima (15th) are especially potent. Nakshatra — the star constellation the Moon is transiting right now. Changes every ~1 day. Yoga — combined angle of Sun + Moon. 27 yogas ranging from auspicious to inauspicious. Vara — weekday and its planetary ruler (Sun=Sunday, Moon=Monday, Mars=Tuesday…). Karana — half a Tithi. Vishti Karana (Bhadra) is considered inauspicious for new starts.

Sun & Moon
Sidereal longitude — where the Sun and Moon actually are against the fixed stars right now. Lahiri ayanamsha applied; Sun spends ~30 days per sign, Moon transits a sign in ~2.3 days. Solar month — Vedic month derived from the Sun's sign (Vaishakha when Sun is in Taurus, etc.). Moon's nakshatra — the 13°20′ star segment the Moon is currently traversing (~1 day per nakshatra). Drives the day's personality + most muhurta math.
Astronomy: skyfield + JPL DE421 + Lahiri ayanamsha.

Solar State
—
Live solar activity from NOAA SWPC, updated hourly. SFI (Solar Flux Index) — radio emission from the sun. 70 = quiet, 150+ = elevated. Higher SFI can amplify mental energy; some find it overstimulating. Kp — geomagnetic disturbance (0–9). Under 2 = calm. 4+ = minor storm. High Kp correlates with disrupted sleep and scattered focus. Solar Wind — particle stream speed (km/s). Above ~500 km/s raises Kp risk within hours.

Today's Timings
Key daily windows plotted on a timeline. ⚠ Rahu Kala — ~90 min inauspicious period each day (varies by weekday). Avoid starting new ventures, signing agreements, or important travel. Existing tasks are fine. Sunrise / Sunset — anchors for the solar day. Panchanga times are calculated from local sunrise. Abhijit Muhurta — auspicious midday window (~48 min around solar noon). Good for important starts when other timings are difficult.
Guidance
—
Actionable synthesis of the day's Panchanga quality + solar conditions. Body — physical recommendations (exercise intensity, rest, fasting windows). Practice — meditation, sadhana, or focus suggestions suited to the day's energy. Timing — specific windows to favour or avoid based on Muhurta and Rahu Kala.
Badge color mirrors the quality dot on the Panchanga card.

How today's sky relates to your birth chart — what each indicator means in practice: Tarabala — the relationship between your birth star and today's star. Cycles every ~27 days. Parama Mitra — best Tara of the cycle. Move on important things. Sampat — resources flow easily. Good for wealth and value-building work. Sadhaka — effort pays off. Good for completing what you started. Mitra — allies appear. Ask for help; offer it to others. Kshema — protected and steady. Routine, self-care, finishing small things fit. Janma — same star as your birth. Heightened sensitivity. Reflect; don't initiate. Pratyari — headwinds today. Persist gently; force nothing. Vipat — sudden friction. Postpone risky moves and big launches. Vadha — avoid commitments and confrontation. Conserve energy. Chandrashtama — Moon in the 8th Nakshatra from your birth star (~3 days/month).
Emotionally turbulent; the themes of your 8th house surface. Sit with feelings; don't act on them. Dasha — your active 120-year planetary period (Mahadasha) + its sub-period (Antardasha).
Each planet colors years to decades of life experience. Full timeline on People tab.

What each marker on a day card means in practice: ●Excellent — multiple favorable factors line up. Move important things forward. ●Good — net-positive day. Standard work proceeds well. ●Neutral — balanced. Maintain, don't push. ●Challenging — friction likely. Postpone launches, finish rather than start.
🌕 Purnima · 🌑 Amavasya — moon at peak charge. Spiritual practice amplified; light food, early sleep.
🌔 Waxing · 🌘 Waning — energetic direction. Waxing for building; waning for releasing and refining. ⚠ Rahu Kala start time — the day's inauspicious ~90 min window. Avoid new starts during it (existing tasks fine). ✦ Each saved person — Birth Tithi resonance. Today's lunar phase mirrors that person's birth Tithi (recurs ~once a month).
Their natal energy is amplified — the best day of the month for personal practice, meditation, and decisions tied to their dharma.

Birth limbs — five lunar coordinates of the sky at your exact birth moment. Nakshatra anchors your Dasha lord and Tarabala cycle; Tithi recurs monthly (✦ on Calendar). Birth Chart — D1 Rasi + D9 Navamsa wheels (North-Indian, Lahiri ayanamsha). Planet abbreviations: Su / Mo / Ma / Me / Ju / Ve / Sa / Ra / Ke. (R) = retrograde. Today at your location — sunrise-anchored windows for this profile's location_mode (Home / Travel / Birth). Upcoming Auspicious Windows — next 30 days, ranked for you (Tarabala + day quality + tithi bonuses, Chandrashtama excluded). Current Life Period — active Vimshottari Mahadasha + Antardashas (BPHS Ch. 46-48 phala + modern summary).

Methods & Sources
RemindersiOS app
The web app can't deliver push notifications without a hosted backend + service worker. The native Panchanga iOS app ships a Reminders panel with per-window toggles (Brahma Muhurta, Sandhya Kalas, Abhijit, Rahu / Yamaganda / Gulika Kala) and a configurable lead-time stepper — all scheduled locally on-device with no servers.
Use the iOS app if you want a notification N minutes before each window of interest. Settings persist; nothing leaves the phone.
Privacy. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking. The only outbound calls are to public NOAA SWPC + GFZ Potsdam JSON endpoints. Profiles + birth data stay local to the host that's serving you.
License. Engine + web app: MIT. JPL DE440 astronomy via Skyfield (NAIF public domain ephemeris); no Swiss Ephemeris (AGPL). See the LICENSE file for data-source + dependency attribution.
Dasha dates. Web, iOS and Android run independent astronomy engines, cross-checked against each other. Vimshottari Dasha period boundaries may differ by up to ±2 days across platforms — the underlying positions agree to a fraction of an arcsecond, but the 120-year span amplifies that into a day or two at a boundary. The ruling planet, sequence and active period are always identical, and Dasha transitions are gradual, so the difference has no practical effect on the reading.
